Wildcats improve to 4-1 in preseason

San Diego, CA. For the second time in four days, the ABA San Diego Wildcats were victorious improving their pre-season record to 4-1. The Fresno Heatwave came into town and got more than they wanted from the Wildcats as the Cats were led by Jamal Kendrick with 37 points and 9 rebounds. The Cats started slowly as Coach Johnson was mixing up the starting lineup to see different combinations and how they played together. The first quarter ended with the Cats leading 20-14.

In the second quarter, Jamal Kendrick hit shot after shot with great defense in his face and had 14 of his 37 in the quarter. The halftime score was Cats 46-31. The third quarter ended with the score 65-54 Cats. The Fresno Heatwave had their strongest quarter in the third scoring 23 to 19. The Heatwave were led by Joseph who had 20 on the night.

In the fourth quarter, the Heatwave cut the lead to 6 but that would be as close as they could get. Kendrick again put on a shooting clinic scoring 10 in the last five minutes to give the Cats a 95-79 victory.

The Wildcats play their 6th and final pre-season game on Nov 5 in Carson. The regular season starts on Nov 10 against Carson at Eastlake High - game time is 7pm, the doors open at 6. The Cats play their second regular season game on Nov 12 against the Las Vegas Venom at Cathedral Catholic High at 5pm, doors open at 4pm.
