Palm Beach Imperials News Release
Boca Raton, FL. The ABA Palm Beach Imperials played host to Swish Hoops of Miami in an exciting afternoon scrimmage game at Florida Atlantic University on Sunday. With the score tied 30 to 30 at the end of the first quarter, the Imperials jacked up as a team and totaled 128 points including an extra 11 points thanks to the ABA marquee 3-D rule. This unique rule enables a team to score an extra point whenever the ball is stolen in the backcourt. It's this rule that Coach Carr is counting on to score his stated goal of 200 points in a game this season.
Carl Jenkins led the Imperials with 21 points and 9 rebunds hitting his first 3-point shot. Other top performers for the Imperials were former Florida Pit Bull, Bobby St- Preux, who scored 19 and newcomer Raphael Morris from Chicago/Venezuela who tossed in 20. Standout, Lamar Moore, former FAU player had 10. More and St-Pruex just finished a national Gatorade commercial with the Miami Heat's Dwayne Wade. Look for the commercial this season.
Swish Hoops were led by Mark Augustin who scored 30 making 12 out of 19 free throws. Cory Lewis made 9 of 13 from the charity stripe for a total of 15. The Hoops team shot 70% from the line, making only one three pointer while the Imperials made 13 3-pointers but shot a dismal 52% from the line.
