Wildcats add Adrian Jones to Coaching Staff

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats arenafootball team announced that Adrian Jones has been named Defensive Coordinator. Jones is currently in his fourth season with North Carolina Central University as the defensive back coach. He was the defensive back coach for one season at Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina.

Jones, a native of Durham, North Carolina, began his football career at North Carolina Central University. During his NCCU career from 1994-97; Jones totaled 93 tackles (54 solo), 31 pass break-ups and 10 interceptions. In 1997, Jones was selected First Team All-CIAA and Second Team All-South Region. He led the conference with an 11.0 yard punt return average and a 29.5 yard kickoff return average. As a junior, Jones earned First Team All-CIAA, Second Team All-South Region honors and was voted as the NCAA Division II Player of the Week after recording three interceptions in one game.

Jones played four seasons in the Arena Football League and arenafootball2 league from 2000-2003. Jones finished his Arena Football career with the Carolina Cobras (AFL) and Greensboro Prowlers (af2). In 2003, he saw action in three games as a member of the Cobras. As a Prowler, Jones totaled 38.5 tackles (29 solo); six interceptions five pass break-ups, one fumble recovery and three forced fumbles. In 2002, he played in eight games for the Augusta Stallions (af2) and recorded 33.5 tackles (26 solo), five interceptions and 13 pass break-ups.

The Arena Football League is entering its 20th season and the South Georgia Wildcats are entering their second season in Albany, GA. The Wildcats will kickoff the 2006 season against Tennessee Valley Vipers on Saturday, April 8th at the Albany Civic Center. Wildcats season tickets are now on sale starting at just $70.
