
Wildcats 1-1-1 on road trip

The Wichita Falls Wildcats went on the road this weekend, playing three consecutive games against different opponents. The âCats started their three game road trip Thursday night defeating the Central Texas Marshals. They played at the Texas Tornado on Friday, losing 4-1, and on Saturday they were credited with a tie as they fell in an overtime shootout to the Texarkana Bandits.
The Wildcats started their weekend with an overtime victory Thursday night over the Central Texas Marshals. The âCats scored all their goals in the first two periods, and at the end of regulation the score was tied 3-3. Brent Sarcone scored the first goal of the game for the Wildcats with assists by Kevin Huck and Jack Wolgemuth. Skylur Jameson scored the second goal with Chad Costello on the assist. Kevin Huck scored the final goal of regulation with Kyle Kraemer assisting.
The game went into overtime where Kyle Kraemer scored the game-winning goal. The goal was assisted by Jack Wolgemuth and Nick Swinteck.
The Wildcats played the league-leading Texas Tornado on Friday night. While the âCats battled hard with the Tornado, they were unable to win the game. They played right with the defending champs heading into the third period down 2-1. The Tornado scored a goal in the third period to go up 3-1. with time running out the Wildcats pulled their goalie and the Tornado finished the game scoring an open net goal, making the score 4-1.
The Wildcats played evenly with Texas, nearly matching the shots on goal that the Tornado had; they were just unable to capitalize and score goals. The Wildcats only goal was scored by Chad Costello with Chris Ochoa and Derek Hansberry adding assists.
"Our shots were about even, and we had some great chances we just couldn't capitalize," said head coach Brian Meisner.
The third and final game of the weekend, against the Texarkana Bandits, was yet another game that was decided in overtime. The game ended in a shootout in favor of the Bandits. The Wildcats were up 3-2 late in the third period when the Bandits tied the score with only 22 seconds left to play in the game. The game went scoreless in overtime, then the Bandits won in a shootout.
Chris Ochoa scored the first goal of the game with Chad Costello and Derek Hansberry assisting. Ochoa found the net for his second goal of the game with Kevin Huck and Brent Sarcone assisting. The third Wildcat goal of the game was scored by Drew Walters with Dan Medenwaldt and Brent Sarcone on the assist. The Wildcats were credited with a tie, and earned one point in the league standings.
The Wildcats currently sit in third place in their division, one point behind second place Texarkana. The âCats will return home this weekend to play Friday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats will look to improve their third place division record.
