Solid goaltending gives Spirit four-point weekend

November 12, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Alaska Avalanche News Release

The Springfield Spirit had quite a successful weekend defeating the Texas Tornado and the Sante Fe Roadrunners.

With Andrew Volkening in the net, and goals by Mike Glaesmer, Matt Staehely, and David Gault, the Spirit defeated Texas 3-1 on Saturday evening. This was only the fourth loss that Texas, the top ranked team in the South Division, has had this season.

Sunday afternoon, the Spirit were back in action against the Sante Fe Roadrunners. The game was scoreless through two periods until the Spirit's Andrew Blaszak, with an assist from Mike Janda, netted the first and only goal of the game at 3:30 of the third period. Goalie Shaun Williams held Santa Fe scoreless by stopping forty shots for the 1-0 shutout.

The Spirit head to Wichita Falls Friday, November 12 and then will continue on the road to play Saturday and Sunday in Santa Fe. Springfield will be back at home Friday, November 19, facing off against the Central Texas Marshals.
