
Wild Versus Kenai Game One Brings 3-2 Final

Among the flood of costumes and buckets of treats, 2,286 Wild fans packed the Town Toyota Center to watch Wenatchee take on the Kenai River Brown Bears for game one of a three game series ending on November 2nd. At the end of the night, the 3-2 win went to Kenai but the Wild out-shot the Brown Bears 27-17 as well as led the entire game up until the very end of the 3rd period. The team is most certainly getting more tightly knit and many more gears are turning within the team. Both Brendan Harris and Colin Burston put up points for the Wild and Zach Quinn saved 14 shots on goal out of 17.
With a short handed goal 10 minutes and 34 seconds into the game, Brendan Harris scored the lone goal of the first period. Ryan Chiasson helped in the process of putting the first Wenatchee point on the board.
Wenatchee struck first again to begin the scoring of the second period. This goal came from Wild skater Colin Burston at 6:58 and had an assist from Dakota Raabe. The Brown Bears got on the the board with 8 seconds to spare before the end of the period from the blade of Joey Sardina. Ben Campbell and Tyler Andrews had the assists.
To start off the third period, Kenai River's Ryan Muere lit the lamp with an unassisted goal at 4:54 to even the score up at 2 each. At 16:02, Joseph Kaszupski ended all scoring for this game when he brought the Brown Bears up 3-2 with help from Alex Jackstadt.
As stated above, the Wild were able to get 27 (7,13,7) total shots on goal while Kenai trailed by 10 with 17 (9,2,6). Both teams were 0 for 3 on the power play. The Wild took 4 infractions during this game but racked up a total of 16 penalty minutes. Penalties went to Jacob Hamacher (Tripping), Ryan Chiasson (Holding), and Stevie Bryant (Checking from Behind) ((Misconduct)).
Zach Quinn stopped 14 shots out of 17 for the Wild while being in the cage for 59:28 minutes.
To end this Halloween night, Stevie Bryant was awarded the 3rd Star of the Game and Brendan Harris took home the 2nd Star.
Coach Littler stated, "Only thing I can say is we found a way to lose that one. Three offensive zone turnovers lead to goals against. Need to regroup."
