
Wild Upends Bandits on Pair of Unanswered Goals

TRAIL, British Columbia - TheWenatchee Wild scored two unanswered goals late in the third period to earn a6-4 win over the AJHL's Brooks Bandits during Day 2 of play in the exhibitiontournament at Cominco Arena in Trail, British Columbia. It was the Wild's firstwin at the tournament after suffering a 6-5 overtime loss to the Powell RiverKings Thursday night.
Six different players scoredgoals for the Wild in the win. Forwards JeradTafoya and Trevor Husch scoredthe first two markers for Wenatchee in a game that was deadlocked 2-2 after 40minutes of play.
The Wild and Bandits combined forsix goals in the final stanza. Wenatchee took a 4-2 lead on markers from Blake Saylor and Chris Kerr. However, Brooks matched Wenatchee's effort and managed toforce the third tie of the contest with 8:14 left in the third period.
Matt Cope's goal with six minutes and thirty seconds remaining inregulation finally put the Wild up for good, 5-4. Mike Lant later tacked on the Wild's sixth goal of the game.
Goaltender Robert Nichols earned the win for the Wild. Wenatchee scored fourpower-play goals on six chances and limited Brooks to one man-advantage tally.
The Wild's final game of the tournament is against the hostTrail Smoke Eaters at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
