Wenatchee Wild News Release
SOLDOTNA, Alaska - Blake Roubos (Niagara Falls, Ontario) and Jono Davis (La Verne, Calif.) each scored a goal and Robert Nichols (Dallas, Texas) recorded his second shutout of the season Saturday as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears 2-0 at the Soldotna Sports Center.
Roubos put the Wild up 1-0 with 7:03 left in the first period when he buried a shot from the slot a moment after a power play expired. Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) and Davis assisted.
After a scoreless second period, Davis gave the Wild an insurance goal late in the third stanza when he cleaned up a rebound on the doorstep. Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.) and Noah Nelson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) picked up the assists.
Nichols stopped all 18 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the season. Gustaf Johansson made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Brown Bears. Neither team scored on the power play. Wenatchee went 0-for-4 while Kenai River went 0-for-3.
Davis led Wenatchee with a goal and an assist.
The Wild will be overjoyed to return to Wenatchee after playing the first 14 games of the season on the road. Wenatchee's home opener, against the Minot Minotauros, is Friday, Oct. 26. Single-game tickets for all 2012-13 Wild home games are no won sale. Full and partial season ticket plans are also still available.
