Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings couldn't escape a plethora of turnovers, as the opposing Janesville Jets were able to capitalize on the giveaways, as they were on the winning end of a 6-4 contest on Sunday at the Borgess Health Rink inside Wings West.

After going ten scoreless minutes in the first, the scoring got started on a top-corner wrist shot by Brennan Sanford, who found the near-side corner, past the glove of Brock Kautz, who was making his second consecutive start against Kalamazoo for Janesville. The goal for Sanford was the first of his career and gave his team a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, Danny Hamburg increased the Kalamazoo lead to 2-0. He was parked in front of the goal, and retrieved a pass from Christian George. Hamburg had the puck on his tape and easily poked it past Kautz. For Hamburg, the tally was his fourth of the season.

The two-goal lead wouldn't last long, as the Jets struck right back less than a minute later. A funny bounce saw the puck dash past Nick Stuart, who was making his fifth career start. The goal was credited to Matt Salituro (2nd), even though it went into the net off the glove of Kalamazoo's Kyle Gattelaro.

Moments later, the Jets would draw even on another beneficial bounce around Stuart's net. This instance saw Connor Lemirande jabbing at the puck from behind the goal, as it somehow trickled past Stuart into the goal for Lemirande's third of the campaign.

The second period belonged to the Jets, as they were able to tack on two more goals and extend their lead to two. Starting the scoring off for the visitors was Eric Carlson, who broke up a pass and scored his third of the season in shorthanded fashion.

With under five to play, and having already scored three unanswered goals, the Jets put in one more before the end of the middle frame. Ruslan Pedan ripped a wrist shot from the right wing side on a 2-on-1 and beat Stuart for his first of the season, giving his team a 4-2 lead.

Six minutes into the third, Kalamazoo attempted to mount a comeback. Robbie Payne started that effort with his eighth of the season to make it a one-goal contest.

Luc Boby then deflected a shot by Donovan Gardner, and it beat Kautz for Boby's team leading ninth marker of the young season. Also assisting on the goal was Brett Beauvais, who tallied three assists on the afternoon.

However, just a few minutes later, Janesville's Eric Cruickshank (1st) forced a turnover and was able to bury the Jets' second shorthanded goal of the game, giving his team a 5-4 lead.

Sealing the game for the Jets was Brett Bukowski, who airmailed an empty netter from his own zone for this first of the season.
