Wild Take Second Game of Series

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Wenatchee Wild evened their weekend series against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs with a 3-2 come-from-behind win Saturday at the Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska. The rubber match of the series is Sunday at 6 p.m.
Fairbanks struck first Saturday when Jacob Hetz chipped in a goal from Duggie Lagrone and Zack Rall with 8:20 left in the first period. Wenatchee evened up the score with 1:57 left in the first frame when Nicholas Kuchera (Eagan, Minn.) racked up a beautiful wrist shot from the top of the near faceoff circle. Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) and Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) assisted.
The Ice Dogs scored the only goal in the second period when Garret Clemment put the finishing touches on a 2-on-1 with less than three minutes to go before the second intermission. Doug Rose and Kyle Lee assisted. The goal came moments after the Wild failed to score on a 3-on-1 rush into the Fairbanks zone.
Wenatchee tied up the game, 2-2, a little over four minutes into the third period when a quick 2-on-1 developed off a neutral zone faceoff. Noah Nelson (Oconomowoc, Wis.) scored the goal on assists from Max McHugh (Edgewood, Wash.) and Jono Davis (La Verne, Calif.).
Davis, who committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha this week, scored the game-winner for the Wild from close range with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation. David Powlowski (Rochester, N.Y.) and McHugh assisted.
Evan McCarthy (Castle Rock, Colo.) made 25 saves on 27 shots for the Wild. Steve Perry stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced for the Ice Dogs. Neither team was able to score a power-play goal. Wenatchee went 0-for-7 on the man-advantage while Fairbanks went 0-for-3.
Davis led the Wild with a goal and an assist while McHugh notched two assists.
