Wild Sweep Jackalopes with 6-4 Final

After the conclusion of the Wild's final game against the Jackalopes for the 2014-2015 season, Wenatchee can officially bring out the brooms seeing as they defeated their host with a 6-4 final and a 2-0 record for the weekend. These two benches were quite aggressive towards each other throughout the entire game and this resulted in 38 total penalty minutes between the two. This win has set Wenatchee on a three game win streak and even more closer to their post season goals. Andre Pison and Brendan Harris were awarded with the 1st and 2nd Stars of the Game and the team was able to go two for five on the power play.

Brendan Harris opened this game with his power play goal three minutes and fifteen seconds after the opening of the first period. The first assists of the game were recorded by Troy Conzo and Jake Ahlgren. Odessa was put on the board two minutes later when Dakoda Menslage was fed the puck by Christian Hausinger and Corey Hoffman. The last goal of the period was scored by David Powlowski near the 9:30 mark. Wenatchee's second goal of the match was assisted by Chris Jones and Andre Pison.

Four minutes and two seconds into the middle frame, Taylor Gatto tied the game at two a piece when he successfully received the biscuit from Hampus Sjodahl and Eric Carreras. Donovan Ott bit back 15 seconds later when he beat Jackalopes goaltender Tanner Creel with the assistance of Stevie Bryant and Ryan Chiasson. The Wild went up 4-2 when Brendan Harris scored his second point of the night which turned out to be a short handed goal assisted by Jake Ahlgren. Gatto closed the period that he had opened shortly before with a power play goal at the 6:24 minute mark. C.Hausinger and Sjodahl picked up the last points of the frame with their assists.

Trying to close the game's scoring gap, Derek Brown scored the last Jackalope goal four minutes and ten seconds after the start of the final period. Kenny Hausinger and Nate Werhane were credited with feeding the puck to Brown. Andre Pison netted Wenatchee's fifth point of the night after lighting the lamp on a power play (at 13:55) with the assistance of David Powlowski and Tyler Rockwell. Dakota Raabe gave the Wild their 6-4 final with his empty net goal 18:59 into the period. The last two skaters to pick up assists were Mike Coyne and Jake Ahlgren.

Wenatchee ended this game with 39 total shots on goal and seven infractions. Penalties were dealt to Chris Jones (Checking From Behind) (Checking From Behind (Misconduct)) (Hooking), Brendan Harris (Hooking), Dakota Raabe (Interference), Ben Baker (Roughing), and Michael Bullion (Unsportsmanlike Conduct).

Michael Bullion protected Wenatchee's net for 54:59 minutes and was able to stop 15 shots on goal out of 19.

Coach Littler stated after the game, "Good effort tonight. We created a lot of offense. Collecting all four points was important. This was a hard trip to get here. It would have been easy to use the 16 hour trip as an excuse. We look forward to a big week with Amarillo coming to Wenatchee Saturday and Sunday."

As soon as the Wild return home to Wenatchee, they will immediately prepare to take on the Amarillo Bulls who will be arriving for a two game series taking place on February 28th and March 1st. Saturday's game will begin at 7:05 pm PST and Sunday's game will start at 3:05 pm. After this series, Wenatchee will head back down to Texas to take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats in a two game weekend.
