Wenatchee Wild News Release

WASILLA, Alaska - The Wenatchee Wild split a 2-game series with the Alaska Avalanche with a 6-3 win Wednesday night. The win increased the Wild's season record against the Avalanche to 8-3-1.

The Wild jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Ryan Timar (Novi, Mich.) opened scoring 5:33 into the contest when he skated behind the Alaska net, turned to face goalie Kale Robertson and beat him with a wrist shot above his right shoulder. Duncan McKellar (Phoenix, Ariz.) made it 2-0 at the 14:35 mark on a slap shot from the slot on assists from Nolan Youngmun (Anchorage, Alaska) and Mitch Torrel (Monticello, Minn.).

Timar scored again with 3:40 remaining before the first intermission to make it 3-0. With Michael Di Puma (Chicago, Ill.) skating down the pike, Timar crashed the net from the left wing, received Di Puma's sharp pass and one-timed the puck past Robertson's stick side. Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.) also assisted. Timar has scored six goals in 11 games since being acquired by the Wild in Feb. He has 21 goals overall this season.

The teams exchanged goals in the second period. Wenatchee scored first on Di Puma's unassisted power-play goal at the 9:37 mark to make it 4-0. Robb Haider got the Avalanche on the scoreboard with less than two minutes to play in the period on an even strength marker.

Berkley Scott got the Avalanche back into the game momentarily on his even strength goal five minutes into the third period. The Wild reclaimed its 3-goal lead, however, a little more than a minute later when defenseman Alex McLean (Duluth, Minn.) one-timed a goal from the high slot on Nathan Sliwinski's (Castle Rock, Col.) pass from the near corner.

Wild defenseman Eric Johnson (Madison, Wis.) scored an empty-netter from deep in his own zone with less than two minutes remaining in the game before Alaska's Logan Maly closed out the scoring at the 18:26 mark.

Wild goaltender Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.), who stopped 15-of-18 shots, earned his 21st win of the season. Alaska starting goaltender Kale Robertson stopped 11 of the 14 shots he faced in 20 minutes of work. Landon Peterson, on in relief of Robertson, allowed two goals on 27 shots. Wenatchee went 1-for-3 on the power play while Alaska failed to score on eight extra-man advantages.

The Wild has the day off tomorrow before playing its last regular-season series against Fairbanks on Friday and Saturday. Both games are slated for 7:30 p.m. (AKST) starts.
