
Wild signs Gulf War Veteran with Football Talent

Alaska Professional Sports, Inc. and the Alaska Wild are proud to announce the signing of former Dimond High School football standout Alvin Payton (5'11ft, 275lbs.). Payton served the mighty U.S.A. in the Persian Gulf War. In the army, Payton played 8 years of rugby. Payton is also known as a veteran in the Anchorage Flag Football Association. He's been playing in the AFFA for 12 years. Payton has also won 2 Offensive Most Valuable Player awards and 3 Defensive Most Valuable Player awards in the AFFA. "I'm glad we have someone like Alvin to show the other Alaskan athletes out there that you can still live the dream of playing professional football in Alaska," said Alaska Wild Defensive Coordinator Abe Hernandez.
The Alaska Wild is part of the Intense Football League (IFL). Founded in 2003, the IFL consists of a record nine professional indoor football teams, three of which are located outside of Texas, the Louisiana Swashbucklers of Lake Charles, the Alaska Wild of Anchorage, Alaska and the Fairbanks Grizzlies of Fairbanks, Alaska. Texas teams include the CenTex Barracudas of Belton, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, Odessa Roughnecks, San Angelo Stampede Express, Katy Ruff Riders, and Frisco Thunder.
