
Wild Falls in OT: Hope Records Hat Trick

SOLDOTNA, Alaska. - Forward Tyler Hope (McKinney, Texas) recorded a hat trick, but the KenaiRiver Brown Bears handed the Wenatchee Wild a 5-4 loss in overtime Friday nightat the Soldotna Sports Center in Soldotna, Alaska.
Kenai River's Sean Muller opened up scoring at the 15:46mark of the first period on a power-play goal that he tipped in off a shot fromthe blue line by Erick Ware.
Wenatchee came right back. Fifteen seconds into the secondperiod, Hope stole the puck from a defender in the Kenai River slot, moved inon goal and lit the lamp to tie the game, 1-1. Hope gave the Wild the lead,2-1, less than two minutes later when he scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal on ashot from the near point. D.J.Vandercook (Farmington Hills, Mich.) assisted.
The Brown Bears answered the Wild's power-play goal with apower-play goal of their own. At the 4:30 mark, Brett Lubanski knocked arebound into the net off a shot by Doug Beck to force the second tie of thecontest, 2-2.
Kenai River regained the lead, 3-2, 66 seconds into thethird period when Muller scored his second man-advantage marker of the contest.Hope earned a hat trick at the 4:08 point of the third frame when he scored on arebound off a Vandercook shot. ChrisRumble (Chesapeake, Va.) also assisted.
Raymond Stenehjem put the Brown Bears back on top at the6:12 mark of the third period when he rocketed a top-shelf shot past Wildgoaltender Brandon Jaeger (Champlin,Minn.). The Wild made the most of its fifth and most important power play ofthe game late in the third period when AnthonyMartinez (Schawmburg, Ill.) tapped in a rebound off a shot from Zach Frye (Spokane, Wash.), who wasstreaking down the slot. Max McHugh(Edgewood, Wash.) also assisted on the man-advantage goal that proved to forceovertime.
The Wild was short-handed in overtime and the Brown Bearstook full advantage when Doug Beck scored on a one-timer from the near faceoffdot 41 seconds into the extra session to give the Brown Bears the victory, 5-4.
Jaeger made 21 saves on 26 shots. Kenai River goalie MathiasDahlstrom made 30 stops on 34 shots. Wenatchee went 2-for-5 on the power playbut surrendered four goals on six short-handed tries.
Hope's hat trick was his first with the Wild. He now has 11points (6G, 5A) on the season. Vandercook recorded two assists to increase hisseason points total to 17 (7G, 10A). Muller scored two goals for the BrownBears while Stenehjem scored a goal with two assists.
The Wild will try to close out its 6-game Alaskan road tripwith a win over the Brown Bears Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. (PST).
