Port Huron, MI. - Mitch Maloney scored twice Saturday night, leading the Port Huron Fighting Falcons to a 2-1 win over the Wenatchee Wild at McMorran Arena in Port Huron, Michigan.

Maloney's first goal, assisted by Bryan Yim and Joey Lindberg came at 8:27 of the first period, staking Port Huron to a 1-0 lead.

Maloney's second goal, assisted by Conner Enciso and Nick Horne at 7:50, increased the Fighting Falcons' lead to 2-0. Wenatchee struck 66 seconds later, with a goal by Sam Becker (Roseville, Minnesota). Parker Tuomie (Biemerhaven, Germany) and Troy Loggins drew the assists at 8:56, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.

In the third, both defenses tightened up, with just 6 shots for the two teams combined. Neither team could dent the twine, as Port Huron hung on for the 2-1 win. "Competed hard" said Wild Head Coach Bliss Littler. "Had our chances. Need to finish when we get our best scoring chances."

The Falcons outshot Wenatchee 22-20. Chase Perry (Andover, Minnesota) made 20 saves for the Wild, Alex Blankenburg had 19 stops for Port Huron. Wenatchee was 0-for-5 on the power play and 6 of 6 on the penalty kill.

The Wild's record is now 5-4-0, while Port Huron is 8-2-2.

Wenatchee remains on the road for three more games, with one more at Port Huron tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm PDT, then two at the Soo on Friday and Saturday, October 18th and 19th. The Wild's next home action is against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The games on Friday and Saturday, October 25th and 26th, start at 7:05pm PDT, with the game on Sunday, October 26th, starting at 5:05pm PDT.
