Wild Drop Home Opener
March 9, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wichita Wild News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wild of the IFL (Indoor Football League) dropped their first home game of the 2012 season tonight against the Sioux Fall Storm.
In a final score of 81-54, the Wild were lackluster on Defense, failing to stop the high power offence of Sioux Fall all night.
Although the game was heavily dominated by the Sioux Falls Storm in the second half, Wichita played strong ball in the first quarter, leading 21-19 after the first. However the initial momentum wore off for the Wild, and Sioux Falls began to pull away in the second, pulling a 46-28 lead over the Wild going into halftime.
Even with standout play from Wide Receivers Tim Simmons and Doug Pierce, the Wild struggled to find their stride in the second half as Sioux Falls increased their lead substantially, walking away with 81-54 win over Wichita. Sioux Falls Quarterback Chris Dixon completed 31 of 35 passes, throwing for 403 yards and 0 interceptions. Wild Quarterback Phil Staback threw for 21 of 34, totaling 157 yards and 2 interceptions.
The Wichita Wild will return to action on March 24th when they take on the Allen Wrangler at home in Hartman Arena.
