West Virginia Wild News Release

Romeo Lagmay Jr., a former assistant coach at West Virginia University Tech, has been named coach and general manager of the West Virginia Wild of the International Basketball League.

Lagmay, a native of Los Angeles, currently resides in Montgomery and is currently a faculty member with the physical education department at Tech. Last summer, Lagmay served as an assistant coach in the NBA's Summer Pro League. "I accepted this coaching opportunity from [Wild] owner Daniel Hicks because I see the potential this franchise has to offer the city of Charleston and statewide,'' Lagmay said. "I am honored that the Wild has full confidence in me to represent this professional organization as a head coach and general manager."

Also, the Wild announced the hiring of former Tech standout Ron Beatty as an assistant coach.

Last year, the team played an entry-level exhibition schedule. The team will be a full IBL member this season, competing against more than 25 teams from across the country. Home games are set for Capital High School. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Season ticket packages are also available at 304-720-2244. The Wild opens their season at home on March 31 against Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Additional images, photos and videos are available at www.iblhoopsonline.com.
