Wild About Reading at Beale Library; Blitz & Condors at Swim Meet

Monday, June 21st - Director of Community Relations & Development John Ayre will be at the Beale Memorial Library's "Wild About Reading" Storytime beginning at 10:30am. The Beale Memorial Library is located at 701 Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield. For more information on the "Wild About Reading" program and how kids can earn free tickets to see the Bakersfield Blitz, contact the Kern County Library at 868-0750 or log on to www.kerncountylibrary.org to sign up for the program.

Thursday, June 24th - Come on down to the Holiday Inn Select for the Indoor War Report as the "Voice of the Blitz" Kevin Bartl is joined by Blitz Head Coach Rick Van Horne, as well as select Blitz players from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The IWR is a great chance for fans to meet their favorite members of the 2004 Blitz as well as win great prizes. The Holiday Inn Select is located at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and Q Street. The show can also be heard live each week on KGEO AM 1230.

Saturday, June 26th - The Bakersfield Condors mascot, Colonel Claw'd, will be at the 3 Way Automotive Group's "Battle Between the Stores" sales event at both 3 Way locations. The event pits both locations, 3800 California Avenue and at the Auto Mall on 4500 Rudnick Court, against each other and runs through Sunday. Sunday, June 27th - Select Blitz and Condors players, BSE staff, and the Blitz mascot Crusher will be at the CSUB Swim-a-thon. The Swim-a-thon benefits the Bakersfield Swim Club and BSE will be competing against -California Highway Patrol, Bakersfield Police Department, and other local law enforcement agencies in swimming relay races. The races will be held at the CSUB pool located on campus next to the softball fields, from 1:00pm - 2:30pm. For more information call 343-0377.

Notes:

The Bakersfield Condors were recognized at the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards Ceremony Saturday, June 19th. The Condors were nominated for the Humanitarian, Group, Level 1 Award for their community involvement. The Condors were also recognized for their efforts in developing, and the support of the new Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. The Bakersfield Ice Sports Center is located just behind the Holiday Inn Select at 1325 Q Street, and occasionally serves as the Condors practice facility.

Bakersfield Condors 2004-2005 season schedule has been announced. The Condors will open their second season in the ECHL on Friday, October 22nd 2004 against the expansion Victoria Salmon Kings. Season tickets are now available with packages starting at just $30. Stop by the Bakersfield Sport Entertainment office at Centennial Garden or call the Condors at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.
