FRIDAY, JUNE 18

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers 63, ALBANY CONQUEST 43 (Attendance: 7,239)

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Albany Conquest (4-7) couldn't overcome a 42-7 half time deficit as they fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (9-2) by a score of 69-43 at Pepsi Arena Friday night. The win for the Pioneers breaks the curse of the number one team on the Coaches' Poll meaning they will be the first team to be number one two straight weeks since Quad City was number for Week 3 and 4. Tim Hicks was almost flawless, completing 20 of 24 passes for 288 yards and seven touchdowns with zero interceptions. Kevin Nagle also rushed for two touchdowns. Four different receivers caught touchdown passes. Albany's Rashon Burns rushed eight times for 22 yards and two touchdowns.

Memphis Xplorers 55, MANCHESTER WOLVES 54 (Attendance: 6,359)

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Memphis Xplorers (6-5) overcame a thirteen point deficit late in the fourth quarter to defeat the Manchester Wolves (4-7) by a score of 55-54 at Verizon Wireless Arena Friday night. Kevin Prentiss caught seven passes for 137 yards and four touchdowns. His two final scores brought the Xplorers within six points and then put them up by one in the final minute. Manchester's Chris Sanders played a solid game, completing 26 of 35 passes for 315 yards and five touchdowns. His only mistake was an interception by Dahn Singfield in the final seconds as Manchester was looking to set up a potential game winning field goal. Marc Hayes caught two passes for 12 yards, and both catches went for touchdowns.

BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS 66, Rio Grande Valley Dorados 59 OT (Attendance: 2,961)

BOSSIER CITY, La. - In a wild game the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (5-7) downed the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (3-7) 66-59 at Centruy Tel Center Friday night. Caleb Slover connected with Craig Cole on a touchdown pass with 13 seconds left to put the Dorados up by three, but a missed extra point kept the lead at that margin and allowed Jason Ball to make a 28-yard field goal and put the game into overtime. The Battle Wings won in overtime on a Reggie Perkins touchdown catch and then a defensive stand on the ensuing possession for the Dorados. Perkins had a big game for the Battle Wings, catching three passes for 42 yards, all touchdowns, and returning an interception 47 yards on defense. The Dorados' Craig Cole caught nine catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns.

Quad City Steamwheelers 62, GREEN BAY BLIZZARD 53 (Attendance: 3,027)

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Quad City Steamwheelers (7-4) recovered from an early 21-0 deficit to defeat the Green Bay Blizzard (4-7) 62-53 at the Resch Center Friday night. The Steamwheelers' receiving duo played well with Tim Dodge catching 10 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown and Jeff Hewitt bringing in nine passes for 141 yards and five touchdowns. They accounted for 19 of Ronnie Gordon's 22 completed passes. Chris Greisen played well for the Blizzard as well, completing 19 of 40 passes for 243 yards and six touchdowns with one interception and a rushing touchdown. His one interception was a big one though, as Matt Forbes returned the pick 44 yards for a touchdown and put the Steamwheelers up by two possessions and control of the game.

SATURDAY, JUNE 19

CAPE FEAR WILDCATS 57, Florida Firecats 49 (Attendance: 4,120)

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Mike Gluski completed 24 of 40 passes for 233 yards and six touchdowns with one interception to guide the Cape Fear Wildcats (7-3) over the Florida Firecats (7-4) 57-49 at the Crown Coliseum Saturday night. Chris McKinney caught seven Gluski passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns. The Firecats' Steve Gorrie rushed five times for 39 yards and one touchdown. Magic Benton recorded eight receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Roy Stabler of the Firecats recorded the only interception in the game. The game was tied at 21 until Gluski scored on a one-yard rush near the end of the second half. The Wildcats then scored the first two touchdowns in the second half to take control over the game.

COLUMBUS WARDOGS 46, Macon Knights 45 (Attendance: 2,579)

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Columbus quarterback Kyle Rowley scored on a one-yard touchdown run with no time remaining to give the Columbus Wardogs (5-6) a 46-45 victory over the Macon Knights (2-9) at the Columbus Civic Center. Adrian Cockfield caught his only touchdown of the game with 30 seconds left to bring the Wardogs within five. Macon recovered the ensuing onside kick only to have the Wardogs block their field goal attempt. With just nineteen seconds left in the game Rowley, who completed 20 of 32 passes for 296 yards and five touchdowns with one interception, moved the Wardogs down the field for the winning score. Macon's Glenn Mitts caught one touchdown and rushed for two more.

Peoria Pirates 51, LOUISVILLE FIRE 50 OT (Attendance: 7,407)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Matt Sauk threw an incomplete pass on a two-point conversion attempt in overtime that would have given the Louisville Fire (7-4) the victory, instead the Peoria Pirates (5-6) came away with a 51-50 victory at Freedom Hall Saturday night; the Pirates' second win over the Fire in as many weeks. Talmadge Hill completed 16 of 26 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions for the Pirates. Casey Urlacher rushed four times for thirteen yards and two touchdowns. For the Fire, Demetrius Forney rushed twice for 30 yards and two touchdowns along with catching one touchdown pass. Dennis Fryzel ran seven times for 20 yards and three touchdowns.

Tulsa Talons 62, WICHITA STEALTH 34 (Attendance: 3,074)

VALLEY CENTER, Kan. - The Tulsa Talons (8-3) jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated the Wichita Stealth (7-4) 62-34 at the Kansas Coliseum Saturday night. Bob Bees lead the way for Tulsa, completing 22 of 29 passes for 250 yards and eight touchdowns with zero interceptions. Bees found five different receivers for his eight touchdown passes and rushed for another touchdown. Bjorn Barre caught six passes for 59 yards and one touchdown and recorded an interception on defense. For the Stealth, Damon Thompson brought in five passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. Marc Bacote caught eight passes for 67 yards and one touchdown.

TENNESSEE VALLEY VIPERS 67, Birmingham Steeldogs 64 (Attendance: 5,617)

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Josh Kellett completed 26 of 41 passes for 304 yards and six touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for another two touchdowns to lead the Tennessee Valley Vipers (8-3) to a 67-64 comeback victory over the Birmingham Steeldogs (8-3) at the Von Braun Center Saturday night. Jerrian James caught two touchdown passes in the final minute of the game to give the Vipers the victory. On the night he finished with thirteen passes for 179 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Vipers in receiving. Carlos McNeary led the Steeldogs in receiving with seven catches for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Dontae Walker recorded two rushing touchdowns for the Steeldogs.

OKLAHOMA CITY YARD DAWGZ 58, Laredo Law 39 (Attendance: 8,431)

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz' (7-3) early sixteen point lead propelled them to a 58-39 victory over the Laredo Law (2-8) at the Ford Center Saturday night. Craig Strickland completed 12 of 19 passes for 247 yards and five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Timon Marshall recorded four catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Kris Peters caught one touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 54 yard for a touchdown. On defense, Peters also recorded an interception while Matt Mitchell recorded two sacks. For the Law, B'Jay Jones caught five passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. His two touchdown passes were 46 and 42 yard catches.

BAKERSFIELD BLITZ 33, Central Valley Coyotes 26 (Attendance: 4,441)

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Eric Mahanke caught seven passes for 71 yards and three touchdowns to help the Bakersfield Blitz (7-4) defeat the Central Valley Coyotes (1-10) 33-26 at Centennial Garden Saturday night. Bakersfield's Nick Onaindia scored on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter to extend the Blitz lead to seven points and the Blitz defense held the rest of the way. Chad Elliott completed 20 of 31 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Elliot's counterpart, Frank Borba completed 16 of 26 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions for the Coyotes. Kenyatte Morgan hauled in five passes for 124 yards and one touchdown.

San Diego Riptide 64, HAWAIIAN ISLANDERS 59 (Attendance: 3,179)

HONOLULU - Kane Claunch recorded six touchdowns and zero interceptions on 18 of 26 passes to guide the San Diego Riptide (5-5) to a 64-59 victory over the Hawaiian Islanders (6-5) at Neal Blaisdell Arena Saturday night. Dwight Carter caught four of Claunch's eight touchdown passes and finished the night with eight catches for 144 yards. Nakoa McElrath intercepted a Darnell Arceneaux late in the fourth quarter to set up a Rich Ehmke field goal to give the Riptide a two-possession lead and control of the game. For the Islanders Anthony Arceneaux caught nine passes for 123 and three touchdown and Nian Taylor caught four passes for 143 yards and four touchdowns.
