Wichita's Alex Bourret Named Sher-Wood/CHL Player of the Month

GLENDALE, AZ (January 5, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Wichita forward Alex Bourret has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Player of the Month for December/2011. Bourret will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.

The former first round NHL draft pick (16th overall by Atlanta Thrashers) has been a key contributor for the Thunder this year leading the team with 39 points (13-26=39), 23 of those coming in the month of December.

The Drummondville, Quebec native recorded a point 12 of the 14 games he played in December boasting a nine-game point streak at one stage. His totaled nine goals, 14 assists and a +9 plus/minus rating during the month of December.

The Thunder are currently leading the way in the Berry Conference with a 20-8-1 record and are tied with Fort Wayne for the most points in the league.

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for December include Allen's Bruce Graham, Bloomington's Vladimir Nikiforov and Jon Booras, Dayton's Brett Lutes, Evansville's Nicklas Lindberg, Fort Wayne's Bobby Chaumont, Colin Chaulk and Brett Smith, Laredo's Rusty Masters, Missouri's John-Scott Dickson, Quad City's Brandon Marino, Eric Giosa and Jared Brown, Rapid City's Jesse Schultz and Shawn Limpright, Texas' Chad Woollard and Phil Fox, Tulsa's Dylan Clarke and Wichita's Thomas Beauregard.
