Wichita Wild Vs. Omaha Beef - March 2nd Game Preview

February 29, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wichita Wild News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Wichita Wild of the IFL (Indoor Football League) will take on the Omaha Beef, in Nebraska, Friday night in the team's second game of the 2012 season. The game will be played at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:05 pm CST.

The Wichita Wild and the Omaha Beef are no strangers to one another, having played twice in the 2011 season. Omaha narrowly won both of those games; 36-24 and 48-44, respectively.

Friday night's game will be the Omaha Beef's first game of the 2012 season. The Beef are coming off a 9-5 record in 2011 regular season play, making the IFL playoffs. Omaha won their first round playoff game against the Bloomington Extreme before falling to the eventual IFL Champions the Sioux Fall Storm.

The Wichita Wild (record of 0-1) enters the game after dropping their season opener against the Allen Wranglers last weekend, final score 50-30. In that game, the Wild had more yards than Allen on offensive (265 to 169, respectively) but ultimately lost the game from two crucial late game mistakes. Against the Wranglers, Quarterback Phil Staback threw for 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The Wild will look to adjustments made in practice this week, including capitalizing on scoring opportunities on offensive and cleaning up small mistakes on defensive, to lead the team to victory on Friday night.

Key Matchup: Wild Offensive vs. Omaha Defensive The Wichita Wilds offensive proved to be extremely potent when need be in their first game. Under the direction of Head Coach Morris Lolar, Omaha's defensive should have their work cut out for them on Saturday night.

Keep an Eye On: Wichita's Tim Simmons Simmons had a quietly good game against Allen last weekend. The Wide Receiver pulled in 154 yards and caught one touchdown. Keep an eye on Simmons to have a big game against Omaha this weekend.

Saturday night's road game will be the final of a two game road trip before a team returns home to Hartman Arena for a three game home stand, including the Wild's home opener on March 9th.
