
Dixon, Johnson and Solomon Jr. Take Week 1 IFL Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND VA.- Sioux Falls QB Chris Dixon has been named IFL Offensive Player of the Week. Lehigh Valley DB Marvin Johnson and KR Frankie Solomon Jr. have been named IFL Defensive Player of the Week and IFL Special Team Player of the Week, respectively, for the first week of the IFL season.
IFL Offensive Player of the Week: 2011 IFL MVP Chris Dixon (6'0, 200, Humbolt State) started the 2012 season exactly where he left of in 2011. After leading the Storm to an IFL United Bowl Championship last season Dixon led the Storm to a 73-43 victory over Green Bay in the first week of IFL action. In the game vs. Green Bay, Dixon completed 19-20 passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns. He also was the leading rusher for the Storm as he ran for 50 yards and two additional touchdowns. He ended the game by completing 18 passes in a row. Dixon completed the game with a perfect 158.3 Quarterback rating.
IFL Defensive Player of the Week: Johnson (5'10, 205, University of Oregon) notched a statistic in every major category in the Steelhawks game vs. the Chicago Slaughter. Johnson accounted for 6 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interceptions and he also recovered a blocked field goal for a touchdown. The Steelhawks won the game 30-28.
IFL Special Teams Player of the Week: Solomon Jr. (6'0, 190, University of New Mexico) managed to steal some thunder away from teammate Terrell Owens as he returned a first quarter kickoff 50 yard for a touchdown. Additionally, he consistently put the Wranglers in great scoring position with an average of 20.5 yards per kickoff return. Solomon Jr. finished the game with 123 kick return yards on 6 returns and one touchdown. Solomon Jr. was also second on the Wranglers with 7 tackles in the game vs. Wichita.
