Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release

(Greensboro, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers are on pace to host their one millionth guest at First Horizon Park on Sunday, June 3rd against the West Virginia Power.

After welcoming 835,601 fans over two impressive seasons in 2005 and 2006, the Hoppers entered this season just 164,399 fans shy of the milestone and wasted no time closing in.

"It is a tribute to our fans and this community that we are going to break such a mark in such a short time," said President and General Manager Donald Moore. "We cannot be more grateful to our fans for their support."

The Hoppers plan to shower the special fan during the game with gifts including a Grasshoppers jersey, a team autographed bat and baseball, $50 in Babe's Bucks, a $100 gift card to Ruth's Chris' and two round-trip tickets on Continental Airlines to anywhere in the continental United States.

In 24 games this season at First Horizon Park, the Hoppers have been averaging a league-leading 6,366 fans, which is an increase over last season but up nearly 1,000 fans per night from the inaugural season in 2005.

"It is truly amazing to see how far Greensboro Baseball has grown in the past few seasons," said Moore. "But it is not always about the numbers. Making sure each person that comes out has a great experience is our primary goal."

Another impressive Hoppers milestone was attained during the previous series as the Grasshoppers set a new franchise record with an eight-game homestand attendance of 53,205, surpassing the old by 2,263 fans.

The Hoppers are back home for a two-game homestand beginning Saturday, June 2 at 7pm against the first place West Virginia Power. For ticket information, please contact the Grasshoppers Box Office at 336.268.2255 or online at www.gsohoppers.com.

The Grasshoppers were the proud recipients of the 2007 South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award and General Manager of the Year for the second straight season.
