Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Monday, July 20, 2015) - Western New York Flash and U.S. Women's National Team defender Whitney Engen will be throwing out the first pitch at tonight's Buffalo Bisons vs. Syracuse Chiefs game, which is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. ET at Coca-Cola Field.

Engen, 27, will step to the mound and deliver the first pitch at 6:45 p.m. ET.

A product of the University of North Carolina, Engen rejoined the Flash in October via trade with the Houston Dash. She was previously a member of the Flash's 2011 WPS Championship-winning team.

This summer in Canada, the U.S. Women's National Team went unbeaten in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, eventually defeating Japan 5-2 in historic fashion during the final. Engen made her first appearance back with the Flash on Sunday afternoon, as the team drew Sky Blue FC 3-3.

The Flash return to action on Saturday evening when Carli Lloyd and the Houston Dash visit Sahlen's Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets for the game can be purchased at wnyflash.com, or by phone at (716) 655-PLAY or (585) 454-KICK.
