FC Kansas City News Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 13, 2015) - With all seven FIFA Women's World Cup Champions starting, FC Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo settled for a 1-1 draw in front of a sellout crowd of 3,557 fans at Swope Soccer Village on Monday night. With this result, the Blues stand fourth with an overall record of 5-5-3 and 18 points.

Coach Vlatko Andonovski's team came out to the field with an offensive mindset propelled by midfielders Lauren Holiday and Heather O'Reilly. It wasn't until the 29th minute until the Blues had their best chance of the game when Amy Rodriguez headed a cross from O'Reilly but was denied by the crossbar.

Moments before the halftime whistle, World Cup final MVP Carli Lloyd gave the Dash a 1-0 lead with a free kick that hit the post before bouncing off of goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart's back and into the net in the 45th minute.

Kansas City found the equalizer ten minutes into the second stanza when Dash defender Toni Pressley tried to clear a low cross from O'Reilly but the ball ended hitting the roof of her own net to make it 1-1 in the 55th minute.

From that moment and until the final whistle, FC Kansas City stuck with the momentum but a game-winning goal never came thanks to goalkeeper and Canadian international Erin McLeod who denied Holiday and O'Reilly's attempts.

Next up, the Blues and the Dash will meet for the third and final time this season on Wednesday, July 29 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
