Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

HARLINGEN - The North American League's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced on Monday the signing of outfielder Antionio DeJesus (5'11, 185).

DeJesus joins the Wings after a two year stint with the Springfield Cardinals of the AA Texas League. DeJesus found time in all three outfield positions and over the past two seasons holds a .217 batting average and .346 on-base percentage.

DeJesus was drafted by the Cardinals in the 16th round of the 2007 draft and started his career with Batavia of the New York-Penn League before advancing to Quad Cities (Midwest League) and Palm Beach (Florida League).

During the 2010 season DeJesus became an internet sensation with a leaping catch over the right field fence to prevent a home run. The clip was widely viewed on YouTube and other websites.

The WhiteWings open the season with a four game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners at Edinburg Baseball Stadium May 25-through-28. The WhiteWings host the new McAllen Thunder in their home opening series from May 29-through-June 1.

Season and group tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the WhiteWings at 956-423-WING (9464) or in person at Harlingen Field. Individual game tickets will go on sale closer to opening day. Log onto www.whitewingsbaseball.com for more information on ticket sales, player signings and game promotions.
