April 27, 2008 - The West Michigan Whitecaps outhit the Cedar Rapids Kernels 13-5 on Sunday afternoon at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium, and took the series finale, 9-2. Every West Michigan starter had at least one hit and they drew seven walks off Kernels pitchers.

Kernels starter Jordan Walden (1-3) was roughed up for four runs on seven hits over five innings in taking the loss. He walked three and struck out four. West Michigan starter Ramon Garcia (3-2) gave up a run on four hits and struck out five over seven innings.

The Kernels tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning as Anel De Los Santos hit a line drive home run onto the Randy Kuehl Honfidence Pavilion in left field, his first of the season. Cedar Rapids were held to just five hits on the day as Jay Brossman added a double and Ivan Contreras drove in the Kernels second run on an RBI groundout in the eighth.

Jeremy Moore was 1-4 and had two stolen bases to raise his season total to 15.

The Kernels hit the road for a six game, seven day trip with games at Burlington and Fort Wayne. They return to Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, May 5 for a three game series with the Peoria Chiefs, and hall of fame manager, Ryne Sandberg. This is the ONLY time in the 2008 season the Chiefs play in Cedar Rapids.
