
Whitecaps FC Sign 2021 Leading Goalscorer Brian White to a Contract Extension

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that forward Brian White, who turns 26 today, has agreed to a four-year contract extension through 2025, with a club option for 2026.

"Brian has made a huge impact since joining the club last season and for his contributions, he has earned this new multi-year contract," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. "In addition to all the offensive numbers, Brian is our first line of defence and does a lot of the hard work that doesn't always appear on the stats sheet. Needless to say, we are excited by what we have seen from Brian and where he will go from here. We are very pleased Brian has committed his future to our club and city."
White, who was acquired by Vancouver last June in a trade with Eastern Conference side New York Red Bulls, led the 'Caps in scoring during the 2021 MLS regular season with a career-high 12 goals to win the Domenic Mobilio Golden Boot. White also recorded career-highs in game-winning goals with five, assists with six and appearances with 32. He finished the year with a combined total of 18 goals plus assists, third most by a North American in MLS.

The fans have supported me, the team has played well, and I feel a deep connection with my teammates, coaching staff, everyone at club and in the city. The product of Flemington, New Jersey was named to the MLS Team of the Week three times during the 2021 regular season and won the MLS Player of the Week for Week 29 after scoring his first-career hat-trick on October 2 against San Jose Earthquakes.
During his time with New York Red Bulls, White was named the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year and earned the 2017 United Soccer League Premier Development League MVP award with the team's U-23 side.
TRANSACTION: On February 3, 2022, forward Brian White agreed to a new contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026.
