
Whitecaps FC Loan Gianfranco Facchineri to Atletico Ottawa

Ottawa, ON - Today, Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced the loan of centre back Gianfranco Facchineri to Atlético Ottawa until September 30.
Facchineri, 18, joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy in August 2018 playing for the 'Caps U-17 and U-19 sides, before spending last year with the Development Squad. Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Facchineri represented Canada at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup and signed an MLS Homegrown contract in January 2020.
"We are pleased to announce Gianfranco as an Atlético Ottawa player for this season," said Club CEO, Fernando Lopez. "We are very confident on the way he will contribute to our team and we can't wait to see him wearing our jersey and showing his talent and all that he is capable of."
"This will be a great opportunity and I am very excited to earn game time and test the abilities I have learned while training with the first team over the last six months," added Facchineri. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and playing competitive matches again."
Facchineri is the sixteenth player to officially join Atlético Ottawa, joining previous signings Ben Fisk, Antoine Coupland, Malyk Hamilton, Ajay Khabra, Michel Djaozandry, Ricky Gomes, Kunle Dada-Luke, Brandon John, Vashon Neufville, Tevin Shaw, Bernardinho, Francisco Acuña, Nacho Zabal, Victor Martinez and Malcolm Shaw.
