
White Sox Shut out Cardinals

Bristol White Sox News Release
Bristol White Sox pitchers combined for a 6-0 three-hit shutout of the reigning Appalachian League Champion Johnson City Cardinals tonight. Jefferson Olacio pitched six strong innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts for the Sox.
The Sox got on the board early with a first inning leadoff home run by Joey DeMichele. Eric Grabe led off the bottom of the second inning with a triple and later scored on a RBI groundout by Jeremy Dowdy.
Courtney Hawkins knocked in a run in the fourth, and DeMichele's single scored Juan Ramirez in the fifth. Hawkins later hit his first professional home run of his career in the bottom of the sixth.
Jeremy Dowdy stayed hot at the plate, going three for five with a RBI. DeMichele and Hawkins each had one home run and two RBIs on the night for the Sox.
Olacio picked up his second win on the young season and improved his ERA to 2.93 on the season. Juan Bautista picked up the loss for the Cardinals. The 4-9 Sox will take on the 6-7 Cardinals tomorrow, July 2, on Food City Helmet night with first pitch scheduled at 7 p.m. at Boyce Cox Field.
