WHEELING, WV - The Greyhounds will run again this spring at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.

United Indoor Football announced today it approved the transfer of team ownership and league membership to local businessman Lou Stein. Terms of the deal were not announced.

"Lou is a great addition to the league," Dakota Crow, the UIF's Executive Director said. "He brings amazing energy and a love for the Greyhounds and indoor football that is second to none. We are sad to see George Kellas and his organization move on, but we feel Lou and his group will take the team to the next level, and it ensures the success of the team in our league in the Ohio Valley for years to come."

Stein has been a fan of indoor football in Wheeling since the first game of the Steel Valley Smash in the Indoor Football League, and has missed just one home game of the Smash or the Greyhounds. "That was a family emergency," Stein said.

Stein is a graduate of The Linsly School and Ohio University, has been employed the last five years as an economic developer for the Monroe County Office of Economic Development in Southwestern Ohio. He also is the president of Home Pro Enterprises Inc. in St. Clairsville.

"I am a huge fan and also a life-long resident and a businessman of the area. There was no way I was going to let this resource leave the valley. It's a tremendous asset and all part of a larger picture for economic development in the region," Stein explained.

Stein says there are more than 150 thousand residents within 30 miles of Wheeling and wants to build the team into a source of regional focus that extends to five or six counties.

Even with more than 35 years of business in "The Valley," Stein says he's got one other special advantage as he takes the helm of the team.

"I've got seven years as a loyal fan thinking about this. It didn't happen over night," he said.

The Greyhounds have been one of the most successful teams in the history of indoor football, including back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003 in the National Indoor Football League. The team has made six playoff appearances and participated in five conference title games.

United Indoor Football gears up for its second of action March 24, 2006.
