Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- For the second time this season the Brandon Wheat Kings will hit the television airwaves Friday night, but they will be hoping for a better result than their season debut on Rogers Sportsnet.
The Wheat Kings host the Prince Albert Raiders Friday at the Keystone Centre, hoping to extend their home ice winning streak to three games. Brandon is coming off Wednesday's impressive 6-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers - a game that saw Washington Capitals' first round draft choice Eric Fehr score three times to pace the winners.
The puck drops at 7:30, however, because of an American Hockey League telecast the same night, coverage on Rogers Sportsnet will be delayed and will be aired at 9:00 p.m. CST.
Friday's game will be the eighth meeting of the season between these two clubs, with Prince Albert holding the edge with five victories. In their last meeting three weeks ago, the Raiders built up a 5-1 lead and hung on for a 5-4 victory. Seth Leonard led the Raiders with three goals.
Prince Albert is currently 31-16-4-3 and sitting atop the eastern division while Brandon is 20-26-6-3, good for third place in the division and only two points back of Lethbridge in the Conference.
Fehr's three goals against the Tigers moved him into eighth place on the league's scoring race. His 36 goals are fourth best in the WHL while his seventeen powerplay tallies are good for third in the league.
