Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings trimmed their roster to twenty-six players Thursday afternoon by reassinging 17-yea rold defenceman Derek Robinson to the Winnipeg Saints of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
A former second round draft choice of the Wheat Kings, Robinson did not appear in either of Brandon's first two regular season games last weekend, however, the 6'2" 175 lb Winnipeg product had six penalty minutes in three pre-season games earlier this month.
Today's decision leaves the Wheat Kings with eight defenceman including 17-year old rookie Matt Smith, three goalkeepers and fifteen forwards.
Brandon returns to action this weekend at the Keystone Centre against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday and the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday. Friday's game is Manitoba Hydro Fridge Magnet Schedule Giveway, with the first 2,500 fans in attendance. Saturday meanwhile is the first Source for Sports / Subway Family Night of the Season. The Wheat Kings' Family Package is on sale at Source for Sports for $40 plus GST and includes 2 adult and 2 youth tickets, 4 soft drinks, 4 programs and four 6" sandwiches from Subway.
Tickets to both games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
