Whalers win late over Otters

AJ Jenks scored a power-play goal with 20 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Plymouth Whalers to a 3-2 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 4,219 at the Tullio Arena. Chris Terry added a goal and two assists for the winners while Patrick Lee netted the other. The Whalers won for the third straight time to improve to 9-6-1-0 on the season. Jordan Skellett and Justin Hodgman scored for the Otters, who dropped their 11th straight (0-10-1-0) to sink to 3-13-1-0 on the season. The Whalers led 1-0 after one. The two teams were tied at one heading into the third. Hodgman gave the Otters a 2-1 lead early in the third only to see Terry strike shorthanded midway through the period to tie the game and set the stage for Jenks' winner. The Otters out shot the Whalers 31-25 in the game as Jaroslav Janus took the loss. The three stars of the game were 1. Terry; 2. Skellett and 3. Plymouth goaltender Michal Neuvirth.

The Otters return to action with a pair of road games Friday in Sault Ste. Marie and Saturday in Sudbury. Both games can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m. The next Otters home game is Wednesday, November 14th when the Owen Sound Attack visit the Tullio Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start.
