
Whalers Claim 6-3 Win Over Rangers

The Plymouth Whalers doubled up on the Kitchener Rangers 6-3 before 6,354 fans at The Aud.
The Whalers had an early start after a goal by Beau Schmitz at the 0:45 mark. Matt Caria followed up with his 24th goal of the season to give Plymouth a 2-0 lead. Jeff Skinner replied for the Rangers when he beat netminder Matt Hackett on the blocker-side at the 5:31 mark.
Plymouth's Chris Terry completed scoring in the period at the 15:14 mark. The Rangers trailed 3-1 by the close of the first period.
Plymouth opened the second period with two goals to increase their lead 5-1 by the 2:24 mark. Caria was first with his second goal of the game followed by Kaine Geldart. Alex Aleardi scored on a Rangers power play at the 8:25 to decrease the Whalers advantage 5-2. Ryan Hayes replied to advance Plymouth to a 6-2.
The Rangers' Dan Kelly scored the lone goal of the third period at the 0:12 mark to give Kitchener their 3rd goal.
The Rangers return to action on Sunday, March 1st when they travel to Guelph for a 2:00pm game. They return to home ice Friday, March 6th when the London Knights visit for a 7:30pm game.
