The Whale start 2013 with three games in three days this weekend, with two of those contests being at home. Connecticut will see the Adirondack Phantoms for the first time in a home-and-home, which starts Friday night at the XL Center (7:00 PM faceoff). The same two teams will meet again Saturday in Glens Falls (7:00), before the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins make their only visit of the season to Hartford for a 3:00 game on Sunday.

Friday, January 4 vs. the Adirondack Phantoms at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

- The Whale and Phantoms (13-16-1-1, 28 pts.) are tied for fourth place in the Northeast Division.

- This is the first of six games on the year between the Whale and Phantoms, and the first of three visits on the season by Adirondack to Hartford. The Whale went 3-1-0-0 in a four-game season series against the Phantoms last year, winning both meetings at the XL Center, 3-2 on December 21 and 3-0 on March 31.

- Adirondack 's new coach this season is former Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers and Los Angeles Kings head man Terry Murray, a veteran of more than 1,000 games as an NHL coach. The Phantoms' point and goal-scoring leader is Brayden Schenn (13-19-32 in 30 GP), who is tied for sixth in the AHL in points and was the parent Philadelphia Flyers' fourth-leading playoff scorer (3-6-9 in 11 GP) last spring.
