Western Division Starters Named

Sevierville, TN-- The Southern League of Professional Baseball announced the starting lineup for the Western Division All-Star Team. The starters were selected by Western Division All-Star Manager Wally Backman.

Birmingham Baron Aaron Miles bats leadoff and plays second base. Steve Scarborough of the Huntsville Stars plays shortstop and hits second. Playing first base and batting third in the order is Birmingham's Ryan Hankins. Chattanooga Lookout Tom Nevers is the designated hitter and hits fourth. Starting in right field and batting fifth is Birmingham's Alex Fernandez. Playing center field and batting sixth is West Tenn's Gary Johnson. Chattanooga Lookout Bobby Darula was tabbed to bat seventh and play left field, but has since been promoted to AAA Louisville. A replacement has yet to be named. Birmingham's Miguel Olivo is the starting catcher and bats eighth. Mobile's Ben Risinger gets the nod at third base and bats ninth. Birmingham Baron Corwin Malone is the West's starting pitcher.

Tickets for the game and all other festivities are available by calling the Smokies ticket office at (865) 286-2300. Festivities begin with an All-Star golf tournament and Casino Night Tuesday the 18th. Activities for Wednesday include the Great Smoky Mountain Tourism Council All-Star luncheon, Pepsi pre-game party, an autograph session and home run derby. Post game activities include a fireworks show and Double Play Café post-game party. Game coupons are available at area Pilot Food Marts for $2 off any field level ticket.
