
Chulk Named Topps SL Player of the Month in May

Sevierville, TN-- Tennessee Smokies' pitcher Vinnie Chulk was named the Topps Southern League Player of the Month Winner for May. The right-hander went 4-0 with a save and a 0.65 ERA for the Smokies as he dominating hitters in the Southern League. For the month, Chulk allowed just two earned runs and struck out 22 in 27.2 innings. Thursday Chulk was named the starting pitcher for the Eastern Division in the Southern League All-Star Game at Smokies Park. The Toronto Blue Jays selected Chulk in the 12th round of the 2000 draft from St. Thomas (Fla.) University.
The Smokies wrap up the season's first half with a four game series at Carolina starting Friday night. Right-hander Peter Bauer (2-7) faces Mudcat left-hander Cory Vance (4-5).
