West Virginia Blazers Continue To Impact Their Community
November 17, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
West Virginia Blazers News Release
Bluefield, WV. Even though the ABA West Virginia Blazers have yet to play their first regular season game, the team continues to make a major impact in communities throughout West Virginia. The Blazers and their mascot "Blaze" helped bring Santa Claus to the local mall in Beckley, West Virginia. "Our guys are really good with kids and we try to do a lot of activities with them," stated Cindy Preast, team GM. "This week, we're doing a Kid's Camp for the YMCA and we're also sending our players out to read in three counties for WV's "Read to Me Day." We have reached so many kids already. It has been an amazing summer and fall, and we are really excited about the season."
On another note, the WV Blazers are looking for college interns to work in public relations, community relations and game day operations. If you are studying sports management, here's an opportunity to get in on the ground floor. For more information, visit www.wvblazers.com or email cindybha@comcast.net or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
