Jackson Generals News Release

(Jackson, TN) June 9th- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx scored five runs in the second inning and cruised to a 10-2 win over the Huntsville Stars in game three of a five game series. The loss by Huntsville, coupled with a loss by Tennessee earlier in the evening, keeps the Stars and Smokies tied for first place with just seven games left in the first half of the season.

The Diamond Jaxx sent ten men to the plate and scored five runs off losing pitcher Corey Thurman (2-3) in the second inning. Marshall Hubbard led off the inning with his fourth home run of the year. Luis Valbuena and Luis Oliveros drove in a run each while Charlton Jimerson capped the five run inning with a two run triple. That was more than enough for Robert Rohrbaugh. Rohrbaugh (6-4) allowed an unearned run on two hits in six innings of work to pick up the win. He walked two and struckout six. Brent Johnson drove in three runs while Oliveros finished 3-5 with two RBI's to help lead a ten run, eleven hit attack.

Huntsville was led offensively by Ryan Crew who went 2-4 with a RBI. Crew also pitched an inning, allowing no runs on no hits with a walk, hit batter and a strikeout.

Game four of the series takes place on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 CDT. Right-hander Joe Woerman (2-3 3.52) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Huntsville will counter with lefty Steve Hammond (3-6 6.75).
