(Jackson, TN) June 8th- This afternoon, the Seattle Mariners drafted Jackson, TN native Josh Liles in the 40th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. Liles, who recently graduated from University School of Jackson, spent most of his senior season as a catcher/outfielder. He hit .525 with twelve home runs and eighty-four runs scored this year as he led the Bruins to a second consecutive appearance in the state championship game. In 2006 as a junior, Liles hit .441 with sixteen doubles, forty runs scored and thirty-six RBI's. Liles has been given a baseball scholarship at the University of Tennessee.

Diamond Jaxx General Manager Jeff Parker was elated to hear the news. "As the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, the Diamond Jaxx are thrilled that our parent club has drafted some of our local talent. We wish Josh the best of luck in his future and we'll be pulling for him wherever he ends up playing."
