Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The USHL Western Division All-Stars skated to a deceptively large 7-3 win at Young Arena Tuesday.
Corey Tropp of the Sioux Falls Stampede scored the first goal and the game-winner, en route to being honored as the game's MVP. Tropp's goal 1:53 into the second period broke up what had been a scoreless first 21 minutes. Des Moines' Ben Ryan scored before the second intermission to make it 2-0 after 40 minutes.
The East rallied back in the third as Tommy Wingels from Cedar Rapids scored a pair of powerplay goals, separated by less than four minutes to tie the game. However, the West would do more damage in half the time midway through the third, with Des Moines' Richard Purslow and Matt Read scoring on either side of Tropp's game-winner. Dustin Gazely of Sioux City and Colby Cohen from Lincoln both scored for the West, and Danny Hobbs of Ohio put a puck in for the East in the latter stages of the game.
