Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

Stampede forward Corey Tropp was named MVP of the 2007 USHL Prospects/All-Star Game Tuesday night in Waterloo, IA. Tropp recorded two goals, including the eventual game winner, and was a +3 in the West Division's 7-3 win over the East Division. Tropp becomes the fifth Stampede player in eight years to take home the MVP honors. Rick Gorman (2000), Thomas Vanek (2002), Jim McKenzie (2004) and Andreas Nödl (2006) all won the MVP award while members of the Herd.

Tropp had an apparent goal waved off in the first period, but put the West Division up 1-0 just 1:53 into the second period. Ben Ryan (Des Moines) scored at 11:04 to give the West Division a 2-0 lead after two periods.

In the third, the East Division got a pair of goals from Tommy Wingels (Cedar Rapids) to tie the game at two. Richard Purslow (Des Moines) regained the lead at 10:02 of the third period for the West before Tropp tallied the eventual game winner 53 seconds later to give the West Division a 4-2 lead.

A second year forward, Tropp is the Stampede's leading scorer with 40 points on 16 goals and 24 assists in 32 games. The Stampede are 10-3-0 this season when Tropp scores a goal.

The Grosse Pointe, MI native has already committed to Michigan State University and was recently ranked by NHL Central Scouting for the upcoming 2007 USHL Entry Draft.

Tropp and the Stampede return to action this Friday and Saturday with games in Lincoln and Sioux City. Game times are 7:05 PM and both games can be heard live on News Talk 1320-AM KELO.
