San Diego Riptide News Release
San Diego, CA- Mike Wessel, OL/DL, was assigned to the San Diego Riptide this week. Matt Guardia was placed on short-term injured reserve.
Wessel played in five games before being reassigned to the league office in Week 13. He contributed 4.5 tackles (three solo, three assisted). With Wessel's return to the team, there have been four changes to the line. The changes have been noticeable as the weeks go by with the defense getting progressively better throughout the season. The line has only allowed two sacks in the past six games. The Riptide defense as a whole boasts a +9 turnover ratio after taking away nine possessions and only turning the ball over three times in the last three games.
Guardia was placed on the short-term injured reserve. He played in nine games and leads the team in rushing yards with 106.
The Riptide goes on a two game road series to take on the Central Valley Coyotes on Saturday, July 10 in Fresno at 7pm and the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, July 17 in Wisconsin. Fans can catch all the arena football action at www.WorldTalkRadio.com with color commentary by Mark Rogondino.
San Diego then returns home on July 24th to take on the Bakersfield Blitz at 7pm at the San Diego Sports Arena. Join us for Labor Union Services Night and watch the United Postal Service take on the U.S. Postal Service in a tug-of-war battle.
