The surging Peoria Pirates go south to face the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings. Peoria has won four of five games to reach the .500 mark. Last week Peoria defeated the Steamwheelers on the road, allowing only thirteen points in the process. The Battle Wings are coming off of a tough overtime loss last week to the Arkansas Twisters. This season he has ran for 276 yards and fifteen touchdowns. He has also thrown for 54 touchdowns. More than half, 28 to be exact, of his touchdown passes have gone to BO SMITH, who leads the team in receiving with 68 catches for 1,047 yards. Second on the team in receiving is SHADRICK MCAFEE. On the season McAfee has 35 catches for 470 yards and nine touchdowns. McAfee makes his name known on defense also. He is second on the team in tackles with 47.0 (37UA 20A). CASEY URLACHER leads the Pirates defense in tackles for a loss with 6.5. On offense Urlacher is the af2's fifth leading rusher, with 176 yards on 60 carries and eleven touchdowns. ALBANY CONQUEST (5-7) AT GREEN BAY BLIZZARD (4-8)
FRIDAY, JULY 9, 2004 - RESCH CENTER (8,600) 8:30 P.M. ET

The Albany Conquest go on the road to take on the Green Bay Blizzard. These two teams should be familiar with each other as they just met two weeks ago in Albany. In that game Albany dominated winning 59-29. The Conquest defense played well, including a 20-minute stretch where the Blizzard were held scoreless. Last week both teams had bye weeks. Obviously TONY LOCKE is main receiver for the Conquest. With 54 catches for 1118 yards and 27 touchdowns, Lock is one of the best offensive specialists in the league. Another key player for Albany is second leading receiver JEFF HIGGINS. His 36 receptions for 422 yards and four touchdowns are modest compared to Locke's numbers, but Higgins makes plays on defense also. His 21.5 tackles (15UA 13A) is third on the team. He has also registered 1.5 tackles for loss, including .5 of a sack. His only interception on the season came against the Blizzard two weeks ago which he returned eighteen yards for a touchdown. Teammate ROB GREEN is second on the team in tackles with 52.0 (39UA 26A). Green also has two interceptions and nine total passes defended. Quarterback D. BRYANT, fresh from his tryout with the Buffalo Bills this week, leads the Conquest offense. On defense for the Blizzard RONNIE WASHBURN will look to make it difficult for Bryant. Of Washburn's 12.0 tackles 5.0 are tackles for a loss with 2.0 being sacks. He has also broken up a pass, recovered two fumbles, forced a fumble and blocked a kick. Staying on defense, DERONN FINLEY and ROBERT GARTH both have three interceptions. On offense they have 41 touchdown receptions between them. This will be the final meeting this season between Albany and Green Bay.

Williams played offensive specialist last season, but began this season as the starting quarterback. Now he is back at the position of offensive specialist. Laredo is coming off of a loss to Tulsa last week 60-40 at home. For Laredo, P.J. WINSTON is a solid all around player.
