Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage have agreed to terms with Trevor Weisgerber and Nathan Rosychuk. By returning for their second season with the Central Hockey League club, the two left wingers remain teammates for the fourth consecutive year. The Rage now have nine players under contract for the 2007-08 season, which begins on Oct. 19 when the team visits the Odessa Jackalopes.
"Trevor and Nathan have both been with me for awhile, and their skill level and personalities will fit in really well with the new players that are already on board," said Rage head coach Tracy Egeland. "Trevor is a steady performer who consistently brings his best effort and generates scoring chances game in and game out. And Nathan is an electric player that can dominate a game. He's fully capable of averaging a point per game this season."
Weisgerber (6-foot-2, 185 lbs.) finished last season tied with Mark Wires for the team scoring lead with 50 points (20g-30a) and posted the third 20-goal campaign of his five-year professional career. The Saskatchewan native first played for Egeland in 2005-06 when both were with the Rio Grande Valley (Texas) Killer Bees, setting franchise records for most points (63) and assists (43) in a single season. After beginning last season with the Lubbock Cotton Kings, Weisgerber was then reunited with both Egeland and Rosychuk on Jan. 2, 2007, when he was acquired in exchange for Anders Strome.
Rosychuk (5-foot-11, 185 lbs.) was named the San Angelo (Texas) Saints' Rookie of the Year when he and Weisgerber first suited up together in 2004-05. The duo then joined Egeland in Rio Grande Valley, where Rosychuk generated 34 points (9g-25a) in just 42 games played. Last season, the fourth-year pro tied for fifth on the Rage in scoring with 35 points (13g-22a).
Weisgerber and Rosychuk join Chip Dunleavy (RW) and Clay Plume (D) as returning players from last year's club. Rocky Mountain's current roster is rounded out by Tyler Butler (D), Brent Cullaton (RW), David Morelli (C), Scott Reid (G), and Scott Wray (LW).
The Rage begin their second season at Broomfield Event Center when they host the Tulsa Oilers in their home opener on Oct. 26 at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets for the 2007-08 CHL campaign are on sale now and start as low as $495 for all 32 regular season games PLUS the 2008 CHL All-Star Game at Broomfield Event Center.
