
Weems complete-game stifles Aviators, Cats win 7th straight

Ryan Weems threw a complete-game seven-hitter as Fort Worth downed Coastal Bend 9-1 Wednesday afternoon at LaGrave Field. The win was the seventh in a row for the Cats who completed a perfect 6-0 homestand. It is the first time the Cats have ever won seven games in a row.
Weems was dominant as he earned his second win of the season, going the distance, allowing no runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking no one. He threw only 89 pitches in the game, 76 of them for strikes.
The Cats provided plenty of offensive help, scoring five times in the first inning to give Weems a cushion.
Terence Green homered for the fourth time in the last two games, a two-run shot to left to give the Cats a 2-0 lead.
After the Cats scored another run on a John Allen ground out, Jordan Foster with a two-run shot of his own to make it 5-0.
Fort Worth would add three runs in the fourth inning on a two-run single by David Keesee and a run-scoring single by Carlos Adolfo.
Weems continued cruising as he retired 19 of 21 hitters from the second inning until the seventh.
The only Aviators run came in the eighth inning when Javerro January's double scored Ben Tinius to make it 9-1 Cats.
Aviator's starter Matt Rohr (1-1) suffered the loss as he allowed eight runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings of work.
