Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

The Stampede return to action this Wednesday night when they host Western Conference rival Lincoln at the Sioux Falls Arena. Game time is 7:05 PM. It will be the Herd's last home game until March 18th. The Stampede earned a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the first place Omaha Lancers on Saturday night. Lincoln fell 3-2 in overtime to the Tri-City Storm on Saturday and enter this week in second place in the West, three points behind Omaha for first place. Sioux falls will travel to Sioux City this Friday and then Omaha on Saturday.

Shorthanded Stampede looking to get healthy

The Stampede will have a few more players in the lineup this week when they play three games in four days. Last Friday, Sioux Falls had just 12 skaters in their game against Tri-City and Saturday, just 14 players suited up for their game against Omaha.

The Herd will get Joseph Lordo and Jay Williams back from suspension this week, but still have four players out for the season and two more players who are questionable for this weekend with injuries. Travis Belohrad has been released from the team for violating team rules while Mitch Hughes, Ryan Keller and Reed Whiteside are all out for the rest of the year due to season ending injuries.

Sioux Falls will have at least 15 skaters for Friday's game and are hoping to get back Ian Mansfield and Dan Carlson sometime this week, but both are questionable due to injuries.

The Stampede will get some help after the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament when forward Sam Rothstein will join the team. Rothstein is currently playing at Minnetonka High School where the Skippers are preparing for the Section 6AA Finals where they will face Benilde-St. Margaret's on Wednesday night. Should they win, they will advance to the tournament at the Xcel Energy Center starting next Thursday. Rothstein tallied a goal in Minnetonka's 3-0 win over Wayzata on Saturday in the section semi-finals.
