THE SERIES: It will be the fifth and sixth meetings of the season when the Amarillo Bulls host the Corpus Christi IceRays. The Bulls have posted a record of 2-1-1 including a loss in regulation to Corpus Christi back in December. Forward Tyler Deresky leads all Bulls' players with two goals and seven assists for nine points, while John Rey and Matt Sieckhaus each have six points. Forwards Mike Davis and Gage Christianson have three goals apiece. Goaltender Paul Berrafato has both Bulls' victories, and a goals against average of less than two per game.
WEEKEND REWIND: The Amarillo Bulls posted a 1-1 mark against their rival the Topeka RoadRunners on home ice last weekend. The Bulls suffered a 4-3 loss to the RoadRunners in a shootout last Friday night. Tyler Deresky, Brady Ferguson and Joe Grabowski tallied for the Bulls in the loss.
On Saturday, four second period goals lifted Amarillo past Topeka 7-2. Fourteen different players had at least one point for Amarillo. Goals came off the sticks of Tyler Deresky, Gage Christianson, Tyler Gernhofer, Tyler Rostenkowski, Blake Roubos, Omar Mullan, and Ryan Cole.
BUSY TIME FOR ICERAYS: The Corpus Christi IceRays have played a stretch four games in a span of six days. Last weekend Corpus Christi dropped 4-3 and 2-0 decisions on home ice to the Texas Tornado. Andrew Paras, Michael Economos, and Rudy Sulmonte tallied on Friday for Corpus Christi.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the IceRays were beaten by the Wichita Falls Wildcats 1-0 and 4-3 in a shootout. The IceRays went over 150 minutes without scoring a goal. Grant Hutton, Brandon Smith and Emil Romig netted goals for the IceRays.
SOUTH DIVISION UPDATE: The Amarillo Bulls have a two point lead over the Texas Tornado for first place in the South Division. The Bulls still enjoy three games in hand over their 2nd place opponents. The race for fourth place in the division has tightened up. The IceRays own a slim four point lead over the hard charging Wichita Falls Wildcats.
