TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues announced the Week 17 Teams of the Week Tuesday, honoring Rochester's Edivaldo DaSilva and Wilmington's Kenny Bundy as the Players of the Week.
Rhinos midfielder Edivaldo "Juninho" DaSilva led his squad to two wins over the Toronto Lynx this weekend, notching a goal and two assists.
On Friday at Frontier Field with the Rhinos up 1-0, DaSilva sent a free kick into the box. Rene Rivas easily headed the ball past Toronto netminder Richard Goddard. Then, just four minutes later, DaSilva got a goal of his own as he ran onto a long ball from Jonathan Bolanos and lifted the ball over the onrushing Goddard to close out Rochester's scoring.
On Sunday, DaSilva picked up where he left off, providing a pass to Greg Howes that Howes put on target from 20 yards out and giving the Rhinos a 1-0 win.
The Juazeiro, Brazil native was picked up by the Rhinos after spending the first half of the USL First Division season with the Puerto Rico Islanders, where he had amassed a goal and three assists in 10 games.
Wilmington midfielder Kenny Bundy helped his team to a 3-0 win over the second-place Charlotte Eagles this weekend, earning the game-winning goal and an assist.
Just after halftime, off a scramble from a corner kick, Bundy picked up the loose ball at close range and slipped the ball inside the left post. Then in the 54th minute, Bundy served in a perfect cross that Kevin Nylen headed past Eagles goalkeeper Terry Boss.
Bundy is currently tied for second in the league in assists with six. He's in his second year with the Hammerheads after playing for the Carolina Dynamo in 2003. He earned All-League honors last season after notching five goals and five assists.
